A Glossary: The Essentials
Geeks
People who go well above and beyond the normal way of pursuing and seeking all information about the things they are interested in. Not to be confused with someone who merely likes or shows interest in something. How to tell the difference? Read on.
Geeksperts
Geeks don't just "like" something. You can ask them anything about their interests, and they'd be able to answer you. Like unsung experts.
GeekFest
An event where geeky people, who probably already know each other online, can meet up with each other IRL, talk shop, find out about new technology and gadgets from Technocases, play videogames, and create things. Dubai, Beirut and Amman have already started doing this.
GeekFest Jeddah
And now, so has Jeddah. For the first time ever, EVER, GeekFest is in Saudi Arabia. Here's why this is awesome - this is a chance for a very specific group of people to meet like-minded individuals who understand the way their minds work. No need to explain WHY you do the things you do in pursuit of something you obsess over.

Tashkeil
The very first GeekFest Jeddah ladies' venue. Tashkeil is a facilitator and promoter of creativity. True to form, they have provided GeekFest Jeddah with its first home.
FabLab Arabia
The very first GeekFest Jeddah guys' venue. This is a great place to go for resources when it comes to creating things and meeting others who might be working on the same things. (Here's a post by Soraya Darwish.) Ah, destiny.
Beta
This is a beta-testing event. The Big One will be GeekFest 1.0, naturally, which should be sometime later this year. This one is invites-only, and the way to get an invite is to follow @GeekFestJeddah. You want to be a part of this, because we are making history. HISTORY.
UNorganizer
UNorganizer
Unorganized does not equal disorganized. Big diff. UNorganizers are the people who bring some semblance of order to the preparations leading up to the events, but don't necessarily do it in the "traditional" sense. (Important note: does not mean "United Nations organizers". At least not in this case.) For GeekFestJeddah Beta, the UNorganizers are Khayra, Squeek, Omair and myself.
Geeklings
Geeklings
People who volunteer to help at each GeekFest Jeddah event. They also have a higher chance of becoming a future UNorganizer.
TechnoCases
Geek-friendly brands that participate in, and support, the event by showcasing their products, especially ones that are relevant to geeky pursuits. For GeekFestJeddah Beta, we have Microsoft and Nokia on board. Can I get a HUZZAH?
GeekTalks
During the event, select professional geeks get a chance to talk about something they obsessed over and how they have made it into a career. Not to be missed. We have 4 GeekTalkers for this one.

Geeks tend to speak a different language, usually something similar to internet-speak. It's also not uncommon for geeks to use jargon in their chosen fields of interest.
