#152 ~ Book 15

There is probably nothing in this world I can't over-do. Like for instance, this month, I clocked in 5 books. I haven't done that since I was in high school and I didn't have a life. *cricket*

My cousin gave me this book just last month. Technically, it shouldn't be counted in my 2011 Book Challenge (wherein I read books that I got from before 2011), but because it's MY challenge, I make the rules, I change the rules, and I win all the time. You know, LIKE A BOSS.

While I'm fond of my cousin, I can't tell you how much I hated this book. All 600 pages of its bullshit glory. If it weren't for my book challenge, I wouldn't have finished reading it. It's all sentimental, dragging melodrama about these farmers and their lives. It was inconsistent, but I mean if bullshit went on for 600 fucking pages, OF COURSE it would be inconsistent. I'd just as soon get back to reading the Harry Potter series, of which I've only read 4 because I got too old for it.

I've heard John Steinbeck's name thrown around in some of my reading circles, so I was excited to read it. I was so badly let down that I went and ate about 5 kilos of chocolate. Okay, I lie. I ate the chocolate for lulz. But still.

One thing I did like, though, was this little inscription on the first page that my cousin started writing and forgot to finish. I wonder how it was supposed to have ended. Now THAT'S fine writing.

Other books I've read this year HERE.
