One of the Girls.

I was looking for an image to use as eye-candy for this entry and I came across this picture, which led to my watching an episode of the show. It was chuckle-worthy but meh. Which means I'll go and watch all 3 seasons.

The show is about a girl and her circle of guy friends, which was alright, except that it was all just.. a little too clean, considering there are 5 guys there. Not that I'm saying that guys are nasty. Wait, what am I saying? THEY ARE.

So yeah, I'm watching the show and I think to myself, hey, this reminds me of myself and my gazillion guy friends. (Yes, I had to make it about me.) I mean, this is EXACTLY like me and my college circle. That's EXACTLY what I looked like. And look, that guy on the far left is my friend Mike. That guy on my left is my brother Brendan. Guy on my right is my high school buddy Kenny. They're even wearing the exact same clothes. Hmm.

ANYHOORS. The best thing about being the one-of-the-guys girl is that I get to hear all about their ex-girlfriends. The worst thing about it is that I GET TO HEAR ALL ABOUT THEIR EX-GIRLFRIENDS. And did I mention psycho ex-girlfriends? Yes.

The good news is, I think I've found the reason why I'm such a commitment-phobe. I blame my guy friends, brothers, male cousins and all their extended groups of guy friends who were always hanging out with us in our apartment. (Yay, someone else to blame!)

I'm deathly afraid of being one of these women:

** Miss Jealous. She's the one who says "I'm not the jealous type" seconds before she throws a fit, smashes your car, picks a fight, or throws a half-filled glass of wine/water/juice at you. Because her girlfriend's roommate's cousin's friend at work heard that you said hi to a hot chick. She then repeats herself: "I'm not the jealous type, but this is unacceptable." (True story.)

** Miss I'm-Your-Friend-Too. It's cliche, but guys seem to like having guys' night out, doing god-knows-what. One of my friends complained that his ex would insist she be invited everywhere he went, especially on Guys' Night Out. (If she knew what's good for her, she wouldn't want to be there.)

** Miss Honesty. The one who loves exchanging and (god forbid) sharing account passwords and mobile phones because after all, they are in a loving, trust-based relationship. No offense, but the never-talk-on-speakerphone-when-someone-else-is-listening-no-matter-how-close-you-are-to-each-other rule applies here.

** Miss Nag. This one's a favorite. Especially the ones who bring up past arguments, with exact dates and times of the incidents.

** Miss Baby-Do-You-Love-Me? Yes, in that baby voice. In front of all your friends. Sometimes accompanied by lots of PDA. My friends call it the Baby Talk. Annoying, apparently.

** Miss Buy-Me-Something-Nice. This one's usually preceded by, "If you really loved me.." And by nice, she usually means "something expensive that my girlfriends would be SO jealous about."

These are just the Top 6.

It's scary to think that maybe as soon as I get in a relationship, I become one of them. If not ALL of them.

I don't think much about what kind of partner I'd like to be with; I always tend to worry about what kind of partner I'm going to be. My guy friends always tell me I'll be great, but like one of them pointed out, ".. but who knows? Maybe you're cool with us because we're NOT your boyfriend."

Maybe he's right. Maybe I'll be that girl who's always jealous, who always tags along, who's extremely nosy, who nags, who baby-talks, who asks for things.

And when the right guy comes along, maybe he's the kind of guy who can appreciate the fact that I'm cool with the guys, but also realize that I am, after all, one-of-the girls.

*fingers crossed*
