The Unbearable Lightness of Being Unwanted

One of the best social skills a person can learn is detecting when they are unwanted.

Whatever the situation is, whether you're telling a joke that no one wants to hear, or crashing a party, or just hanging out someplace nobody wants you to be in. It's in your favor to know when you are unwanted, and to just leave.

Of course the trick is to leave JUST BEFORE it gets to that point. You have to know exactly when to stop so that it doesn't even get to the point where they don't want to hear anything more.

The bad news is, it doesn't really matter whether or not you have mastered this skill.

At the end of the day, the only thing sadder than constantly having to check if you are unwanted, is actually being unwanted.

  1. *sigh* I know that feeling all too well.. it's worse when it's a place that you have to be or with people you can never avoid :(

  2. Oh yeah, I know what you mean. It sucks ass. I don't understand why we have to conform to so many unnecessary social traditions. Like this one.

  3. I know what you mean, and it does hurt.
However, I don't believe a person is UNWANTED by everyone. I mean if people like Gaddafi and Husni Mubarak had people who still wanted them, it's not possible that the world doesn't want you around!

When you're unwanted by one person, you ARE wanted by a other people that make up for the one lost. Embrace the ones that DO want you. <3
