The Right One(s).

What do books, movies, music, TV shows and relationships have in common?

Quite a lot.

For one thing, like the Arabic (?) saying goes, they are like watermelons. The only way to find out if they're good is to actually open them. You can't guess. You would have to read books, watch movies and shows, listen to music, and actually HAVE relationships to see if you like them, or if things work out for you.

In the process, your taste is hopefully formed, your interests and priorities much clearer. Each experience teaches you something. Weaknesses, strengths, likes and dislikes (both known and unknown).

Maybe I was wrong before, and maybe there's no such thing as "a waste of my time". However bad an experience may be, however boring or painful or painfully boring, got me where I am right now.

In all cases, Respect is a must. Respect for the people involved in the creation of any one of these experiences, respect for their efforts, successful or not.

If they were bad at their craft, and they "wasted your time", writer, film-maker, actor, musician, or lover, at least you were a part of their creative and/or emotional growth.

And to contribute to someone else's growth is never a waste of time.

I'm becoming more interested in non-fiction. I have tons of novels, all fiction, that I haven't read yet, and might never get around to doing so, and I think the right thing to do is to give them away.

I don't know if they're any good. You will have to find out for yourself.

  1. I accept charity wholeheartedly. LOL. Too bad I don't have much time din to read fictions. :)

I agree that one has to experience things before he can conclude how is it to be such. However, if one thinks he might not like it, better not venture into it.
