I can't sit still for a 2-hour movie anymore. We've evolved (?) into a generation of TV show audiences; we can only sit still for about 45 minutes at a time, and it's getting more and more difficult for TV people to keep us entertained. That could also be because we are armchair directors and producers, and we like to shout at the TV in prediction of what's going to happen next. Can I get a A-MEN?

Here are my top 6 awesomest shows of all time.

Or, as Anas likes to call it when he makes fun of me (as everyone does), Starwar Balactica. For some reason, the mere fact that the title of the show is a combination of the words battle, star, and galactic is enough to turn them off. The truth is, this show is less about space and more about humans, their behavior, their (questionable) morals, and everything in between. I love the re-imagined series for its great writing, and for being a very intelligent show. 




I love this show in more ways than I can eloquently state. I love how it's a whole lot of mumbo-jumbo timey-wimey stuff that just barely makes it past my understanding, and I love how insane it gets, how I have to keep up with what's going on. Every episode is like a cold splash of a bucketful of water in the face, and how long after I've seen it, I think about what had happened, HOW it happened, and who or what Doctor Who is. It's truly a romp through space, time, and tinny FX.

The song above is my favorite theme. It makes me weep. BRBM.



This comedy series is one of the best I've ever watched. It's well-written, it's well-thought-out, and it's just pure genius. I like that there's no laugh track, and how elaborate the jokes are. All signs of good comedy writing. And we all know how much of a whore I am for comedy. (Well, okay, maybe you don't.) It works with a special kind of humor that not many people get, mostly because they generously pepper each episode with geeky pop-culture references and lots of meta-humor. Think you're smart? Try it.


Based on a comic book series, this is probably the only zombie show that I can get behind. I'm not into that whole zombie culture, but this show was written so well that I can't even remember WHY I'm not into the whole zombie culture thing. Menelik and I have talked about how the zombie apocalypse is probably a metaphor for what the human race has become - a bunch of mindless living dead. WHOA. BRBM.


I find it the most difficult to explain to people why this show is BRILLIANT. It's layers and layers of humor and meta-humor and genius and parody and satire and ALL OF THAT. ALL OF IT. I like to make fun of contemplate the inner workings of (our) hipster culture, and this show brilliantly voices it for me. 



It's badass, it's gritty, it's very close to reality as we know it. I like how it progresses without spoonfeeding the audience with what's going to happen next. I'm forced to think while at the same time, I'm being entertained by great actors. It's also very well-written.

Yes, I'm a big fan of good writing, even if I'm not even sure what that really means. I only go by this: if I enjoy the show without realizing it until much later, if I get epiphanies and I am forced to think about what's going on, if the show doesn't assume I'm stupid, THEN IT IS WELL-WRITTEN.

It's tough when the over-analyzing kicks in; it's all downhill from there. Good thing I've found a temporary cure. Ass pastries from the House of Donuts near our house. (Taken today!) While I'm not an Apple person, I've always liked the minimalist look. I also like white. So yes, every time I pass by an iZone shop, I always go in and have myself a nice look at all that beautiful [overpriced] 'simplicity'. I've been tempted many, many times to get sucked in to that whole Mac business, but I seriously doubt it's for me. After all, I am neither hip nor much of a computer/graphics person. I'm happy with my little (almost) 4-year-old classic iPod prompting me to check out that sub-culture every now and then. For now. Unless someone really convinces me. Or takes me on a shopping spree. Whatever comes first. So today, I made my first iTunes purchase. I sat for about a couple hours shopping for music, looking for stuff that I'd really spend money on. Freedom of Trash-Talk.

So there's this guy on my Facebook friend list who's really annoying. Classic fuckface behaviour. He makes uneducated hypotheses, calls everyone stupid (except himself, it's hilarious if it weren't so annoying), and makes all these really fucking stupid generalizations and arguments. Very offensive guy. All of this on Facebook status updates. I know, I can just easily delete him, and move on and stop complaining about how offensive (and stupid) he is. It would save me from seeing all his comments and just shut him up. He can exist somewhere else beyond my hearing (or my feed). But then what about Freedom of Speech? Does he not have the right to voice his own opinions, just as I fiercely defend mine? Would I not be stepping on his rights or freedom by deleting him, shutting him up?
